The Hague is a modern city and the third biggest city of the Netherlands, with over 490.000 inhabitants on less than 100km^2, and is rapidly growing. Greater The Hague (which includes among others Delft and Rijswijk) even has a population of over 1.000.000 people. It is the most densely populated city of the Netherlands, and is even more densely populated than greater London. But The Hague also is called the Green City because of the many parcs, green neighborhoods and green areas surrounding the city. The Hague has a lot to offer; from Scheveningen or Kijkduin beach to the beautiful (royal) palaces and from the many theaters to China Town or the Haagse Market (the biggest permanent market of Europe).

The Hague is the government city, and the home- and work city of H.M. the Queen. With the many international organisations, ebmassies and the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice, The Hague plays an important role in the international scene. It is the 4th UN-city of the world and together with New York the only city housing a main UN department.
